The Drift Story:Drifting along (Part 4)

With the pandemic taking over all of our lives this past year or so, there has been a lot of stopping and starting. It was devastating having to close but we introduced our horse trailer for takeaways and it’s been a brilliant addition to Drift and something that will stay in situ even as we open our indoor seating area.

We’ve been approaching 2021 with a positive attitude. It’s great that we’ve been able to welcome customers, albeit only outdoors, and we have been working hard behind the scenes and making some really big changes to prepare for our internal reopening.

On 2nd June, we will be welcoming visitors back indoors and we will have a brand new menu to tantalise the tastebuds. If you’ve been keeping up with our blogs you’ll know that we started with coffee and cake and it was always our intention to do evolve this over time.

We’ve decided now is the time. We are really excited to share with you that we have welcomed a new head chef Lewis Lane who will take a lead role in our food offering. Drift is heading in a new direction where we will be serving three-course meals.

For those of you who love our current offering and our classic dishes, don’t panic, we’ll still be offering Drift rolls and homemade cake.

There’s been pent-up demand for more food on the menu and with our backdrop, we believe it really is the perfect place to dine. Our new concept is Scandinavian-inspired with a twist – fresh Scottish produce with a theme of land and sea, thanks to our fantastic coastal location.

Lewis, who lives locally, will be heading up the kitchen team and bringing with him a wealth of experience, having worked at prestigious hotels and restaurants such as Paul Kitching's 21212, Restaurant Mark Greenaway, Timberyard and Borthwick Castle.

We’ve been working incredibly hard to get ready for our reopening and that has included expanding our kitchen space so we can cope with the extra demand. Our team is also continually growing but don’t worry you’ll still recognise some friendly faces and get to meet some new ones.

Soon you’ll be able to enjoy breakfast, brunch and larger dishes at Drift from the comfort of inside, but of course you’ll also be able to enjoy our outdoor facilities if that’s preferred.

We don’t want to reveal too much just yet but our menu has started shaping up very well and we have been giving you teasers on our social channels. Think smoked streaky bacon and potato hash with bacon ketchup, fried duck egg, fresh chives and potato skin salt…

Over the next couple of weeks, expect to hear more about our new offering. Bookings for indoor dining are now available, so what are you waiting for? https://www.driftalong.co.uk
